The theme for this app is “My digital wallet”, throughout the app visuals take on subtle leather and fabric textures with stitching to enrich the user experience.

The new PayPal app was featured as Apple’s “iPhone App of the Week”

The triangular card reader (designed by Yves Behar of Fuse) inspired the app icon and splash screen. I also created a vector illustration of the card reader for use on packaging and marketing graphics.

The logo mark was inspired by their work in the biomedical space, using fiber-optics to transmit light for activation of neurons.

Banners

The group wanted to be perceived as serious and thoughtful with a youthful energy. The resulting logo is simple and elegant, presenting a playful yet professional tone.

The original Beta release was based heavily on the original wireframes, and consequently had a great deal of visual redundancy. My design update presented a much cleaner, brand-relevant interface design, which eventually led to the redesign of the MATLAB desktop interface and all of its subsequent apps and tools.

By applying washes of three different dilutions of black ink, I am able to convey very subtle tonal shifts. 

The Margin™ introduces a new social narrative to otherwise isolated websites. You can also layer in trivia and gaming to engage audiences.

As users associate themselves with certain themes and sites online, they will sporadically be awarded badges to help reinforce their online profile. There are currently more than 200 badges available for users to obtain.

This idea of beauty in simplicity led to a very minimal design for frame of her online portfolio, to maintain emphasis on her beautiful photography.

For ease of use, the images can be scrolled through using the arrow keys on a keyboard or by clicking on the right or left half of the image – this allows for easy browsing on mobile devices also.

In an attempt to gain free membership for a year, I embarked upon a self-initiated project to refresh the existing logo and identity. The Native Indian head was something that had to stay, but I wanted it to feel more “sporty”. And I’m not talking put-a-spoiler-on-the-back-of-your-Jetta sporty; I’m talking Patriots-winning-the-Superbowl kind of sporty.

Ultimately, the new logo was gracefully rejected and I had to pay the $1,000 membership like everyone else. In retrospect, I probably could have made those sideburns a little less wild.

This was a quick turnaround logo project that was clear and simple. The icons give a generous nod to past olympic event pictograms while maintaining their individuality and playfulness.

The three events— swim, cycle, run— were created individually and then brought together for the final logo mark.

They also serve as great car stickers!

With many prestigious clients around Rhode Island, Verde had gathered a collection of stunning photography of their recent work, which, along with some interesting insight into each project, prompted an editorial style design.

Users select a chapter (or section) from the title bar and then interact with beautiful full spreads, much like an ebook.

Early in the process, I made the decision for this to be a purely typographic solution. I wanted to create something that spoke to the futuristic style of the Furio clothing line, while also feeling like an established, refined brand.

Initial logo concepts explored the theme, “focus”, using a single N as a logo mark. However, concerns arose fairly quickly that having an inherently blurry logo might communicate the wrong message to potential clients about the quality of Dan’s work.

The end result is a simple but effective typographic solution; custom-designed interlocking letters that not only sit strongly together but also suggest the form of a camera profile.

The identity was then continued into print materials and a website portfolio.

Founded by RISD alumni, the team wanted a style that captured the kind of raw expression and creativity spawned late at night in the studios of the school.
The website has the clean professionalism you’d expect from a fashion retailer with the colour and texture of an artist’s studio.

The H for the Hmlty mark is a digital translation of some hand-drawn lettering.

The site features reviews, interviews and recommendations regarding everything organic. Max wanted the visuals design to feel healthful but also maintain a level of sophistication.

A custom two-column WordPress theme ended up being the best solution for regular updates and maintenance of the blog.

Formerly the Greater Philadelphia Christian Community Foundation (GPCCF), the new name inspired an opportunity for a more contemporary look.

The old logo had a very detailed seal which communicated a sense of heritage, and hope. The flame was a metaphor that the Foundation wanted to maintain. But all those gradients and rays really busied up the overall appearance.

This project was overseen by the Christian branding firm, Abiah.

Development process

This was an extremely fun project, with the challenge of balancing a wide-open name like Oops!, while keeping the design package in line with other Staples brand products.

The logo consists of bold, custom-designed lettering with a simple correction element and handwritten S. (The corrected mark is a backwards letter S.)

As a web-based real estate brokerage for urban homebuyers, their primary customers are young professionals. CondoDomain wanted to establish a brand identity that was smart, clean, and would appeal to their target audience.

The final logo represents two overlapping high-rise buildings and serves well as both a brand mark and an abstract graphic for background treatments.

The website is essentially an interactive application, allowing users to browse through all MLS listings in their area and get a fuller picture of the environment, including virtual tours and local city data such as school systems, local amenities and crime rates.

Codenamed the NY set, this new packaging design targets that specific market with a premium, luxurious dark packaging with a subtle paisley texture.

Micha S. is a digital collection of brush and ink letterform sketches.

The accompanying images for each architect are collages comprising of a number of identifiable elements from their respective works. Colour and custom patterns were also applied for each architect to help reinforce their individual styles.
